HOW WE WORK WITH GOVERNMENTS
CIJ supports governments in strengthening legal systems through expert advisory services, model laws, practical training, and knowledge tools that enable effective and evidence-based lawmaking.
Model Laws
Model Laws
CIJ’s model laws are customisable templates for governments to use as a basis for developing their own legislation. They provide a starting point for lawmakers, offering language and a structure that can be adapted to fit their own legal, social, and cultural context.
Our model laws are developed in partnership with leading subject matter experts, law firms, academics, think tanks, development agencies, and governmental bodies to address specific areas of law or to provide guidance on complex legal issues. They can be used by governments at the national, regional, or local level to strengthen existing legal frameworks. CIJ can support in the customisation and adaptation of model laws to local contexts.
Since the commencement of our partnership, CIJ has played a pivotal role in building institutional capacity at the Energy Regulation Board. Their technical support has enabled us to deepen our regulatory capabilities, promote good governance, and enhance our service to the Zambian people.
