Liness is a seasoned legal professional with expertise in legislative drafting, financial regulation, and economic crime prosecution. Her expertise includes financial services, governance, trade and economic crime. Liness has worked in the public and private sector, including serving as Chief State Advocate in the Legislative Drafting Department in Ministry of Justice, Malawi, in which role she drafted a range of primary and subsidiary legislation.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws from Adelaide University and Master of Laws (International Business Law) from Maynooth University and is admitted to practice in Malawi and Australia.
